290 km, 12,000 riders, infinite gears

Two weekends ago, a team of NuVinci engineers rode the MS-150, a two day ride over 180 miles from Houston to Austin all in support of the US National MS society.
The NuVinci guys were there for the ride obviously but also testing some new secret stuff. The bikes they rode were as varied as the riders. From hybrids, to road bikes to two Batavus Cresendo city bikes, all fitted with the NuVinci hub.
AD Fiets test tomorrow

AD (Algemeen Dagblad) is one of the main national newspapers in Holland and an important one. I hear that tomorrow they will publish their highly anticipated annual bike test. So if you live in Holland, you might want to buy a copy on the Saturday. It has lots of others stuff about bicycles besides their influential test.
Crazy week
April 27, 2007 on 4:26 pm | In Uncategorized | No CommentsWhat a week. Not sure if I am coming or going. Some great things happening on all fronts. ATC NuVinci is making good inroads in Europe but unfortunately I can’t reveal to much about it right now. Also lots happening in the press. The hub with balls is rolling and rolling. Watch out for some more updates on nomoregears real soon.
Thanks
Now, that “maakt mij vrolijk”

I don’t know what made me happier. Seeing Peter Winnen win the Queens Stage on Alpe dHuez in his first Tour de France -I believe in ‘81-, or reading his article on the Batavus Adagio NuVInci in the NRC Handelsblad last night.
Peter Winnen is a cycling legend in Holland after winning the white jersey, winning three time the Queens (mountain) stage in the Tour de France and finishing third in the Tour of 83 in the GC. Turn 13 of Alpe d’Duez is even named after him.
These days he has an important following as a columnist in magazines and the NRC newspaper. The later is perhaps the real thinking mens newspaper in Holland. Perhaps it no coincidence he is their sports columnist and bicycle writer. Besided that he is the author of four books.
So what about the Batavus Adagio NuVinci?
Batavus NuVinci:Sold Out?

After working so hard and so long on NuVinci in Europe I thought it would be nice to see some Batavus NuVinci bikes in the store. So the day after I came back from my US trip I walked into my local Batavus dealer. But not a NuVinci bike in sight.
VeloNews Zinn Report: This results in a surprising level of efficiency for a wide variety of applications besides bicycles.

ATC NuVinci got a lot of attention at the Sea Otter event last week. Hundreds of people riding and testing it and familiarizing themselves with the advantages of riding a NuVinci CVT equiped bike. Tech guru Lennard Zinn of VeloNews also tested it briefly and wrote an interesting short story about it in his VeloNews column. It has some interesting background facts on the inventor of the core technology: Don Miller. Have a read at VeloNews.
MTN Bike Riders also showed some nice pictures of the ATC NuVinci booth on their blog. Enjoy.
NuVinci CVT in a car

If it is good enough for a bicycle it should work in a car, that is the premise of the NuVinci CVT technology. As I mentioned in the About NuVinci page, what makes the NuVinci technology so special is that it is so scalable.
Here you see a Chinese SUV which the ATC and Fallbrook engineers fitted with a prototype of the NuVinci CVT. The video he was taken recently in front of the ATC NuVinci factory in Oklahoma City. (more after the bump).

If you happen to go to the Sea Otter classic in Monterey between 12 and 15 April come and see us. We will be in two locations – booth #122 in the Exhibitor Show, and a booth in the “Demo Area” for ride and drives. We have several NuVinci equipped bikes there. So have a ride and discover NuVinci for yourself at what is for me one of the nicest bicycle festivals in the world.

I have been wanting to do this for so long. Writing and keeping a blog about the NuVinci adventure. There is so much to tell and write about. About the first time I rode a NuVinci equiped bike, the time my bikes were stolen, driving electric cars in Mexico, winning the Bike of the Year award in Holland. But always to busy, to much to do.
So I am happy that we are finally here. I will do my best to keep this up to date. With new business wins and developments. I will make sure I upload the latest product sheets and video’s in all the different languages. So check back regularly.
