Vall d’ Isere start

Crazy day yesterday. Seems already like a week ago. Went to the start with the ATC NuVinci bike and bumped into lots of old friends and contacts. They all wanted to ride it, find out more about it and sometime photograph or film it. They technical guys from the Astana team rode it and liked it a lot. Same for the T-Mobile team, some TV commentators, and journalists. All riding rounds in the paddock just before the start. The bike with no more gears, or endless gears as you want, was rather popular amongst the race crowd.
Then it took us about six hours to get to the hotel. Because of the stage and the mountainous area all non course cars had to drive via Albertville, Grenoble and Gap. In the end we missed the finish and went straight to the hotel. Some TV people made the finish with only minutes to spare. For others it took even longer. The Tour is about cycling, but every-time I am amazed how many car kilometers one racks up. Luckily we are only an hour away from the start today.
